WD Partners with National Association for the Blind

wd(subrotodas)WD partnered with the National Association For The Blind (NAB) in India to provide Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) to visually challenged children. The project, spread across 2 months and supporting about 60 children of the 5-18 age group of, was implemented at the NAB institution where students with visual and hearing challenges along with their supervisors were introduced to DMT.

“WD is proud and honored to work with the The National Association For The Blind. The NAB has been instrumental in empowering the visually challenged population of India since 1952,” said Subroto Das, Director – India & South Asia, WD. “We look forward to studying the progress and impact of this noble project.”

DMT has demonstrated potential in developing expression and in channeling physical energy, and has proven therapeutic for children with visual and hearing challenges. The project’s objective is to enhance self-confidence, to aid in expression building, to overcome the phobia of communicating and to reduce the risk of muscle and bone disease.WD previously worked with the Smile Foundation for the third edition of the Ramp for Champs initiative where it sponsored the education of 125 underprivileged children for a year.
