ViewSonic aims to Target the Burgeoning LCD Touchscreen Industry in India

According to a recent analysis report, the total touchscreen module market will grow to Rs.45, 556.25 crore ($9billion) by 2015, from Rs.18, 222.50 crore ($3.6billion) in 2008, with a CAGR of 14 per cent. Keeping this in mind, ViewSonic players in premiere LCD touchscreen technology are working towards making their premiere products available in cars, homes and offices in India.

Girish Mamtani, Country Manager, ViewSonic India said, “We have ensured the ample supply of our TD2340, Windows 8 certified 10-Point Touch Display in India because we can see that touchscreens are becoming widespread due to the ease of use and intuitive interfaces they enable, which can save time and increase productivity. Falling prices have also spurred adoption. Finally, touchscreen devices are now perceived as cool and fun. Touchscreen penetration has been rapidly increasing in mobile phones, portable navigation devices, gaming and other applications. Over the next several years, touchscreens will undergo strong growth in large-size applications, such as retail, ticketing, point of information and education/training.”

He further explained the current Indian touchscreen scene by saying, “The touchscreen industry here is extremely diverse, with different companies pursuing several different technologies. There are over a dozen touchscreen technologies. Resistive touchscreen is the leader in terms of unit shipments and over 60 companies are manufacturing it. However, both surface and projected capacitive technologies have attracted numerous suppliers, and many companies are also pursuing multi-touch capabilities. It is no surprise that mobile phones are the biggest application of touchscreens in terms of unit shipments but what sets our product apart is its exceptional interactivity.
