To connect their vibrant IT industry with the global players and further strengthen its international operations, the TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) organized the Taiwan’s ICT Brands Media Tour 2016 for the international media representatives.
Founded in 1970 to help promote foreign trade, the TAITRA is the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization in Taiwan. Jointly sponsored by the government, industry associations and several other commercial organizations, TAITRA assists Taiwan businesses and manufacturers with reinforcing their international competitiveness and in coping with the challenges they face in foreign markets. Together with its sister organizations, Taiwan Trade Center (TTC) and Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), TAITRA creates a wealth of trade opportunities through effective promotion strategies.
Taiwan’s ICT Brands Media Tour 2016 was an informative and insightful tour organized (from April 2 to 6) for the international media representatives to get a first-hand experience of Taiwan’s IT industry and explore the opportunities it can offer for the overseas players. NCN is one of the 19 top international media that were invited to participate in the tour.

The prominent 8 Taiwanese companies the media team visited: Acer, Edimax Technology Co Ltd, ZyXEL, Coolermaster, Mitac , Thermaltek, BenQ, Draytek.
During the tour the international media representatives had the opportunity to physically witness the latest and state-of-the art manufacturing facilities, assembly-lines, R&D, etc. The representatives were shown the latest innovations, technology and products. The tour was very educative and exciting and helped the visitors to understand the focus of Taiwanese brands and how they are different from others. There was a special conference organized by TAITRA where the top Taiwanese brands briefed about their brand focus and technology.
Acer is focusing more on IoT solutions, Gaming Monitors, laptops.
Edimax which completed 30 years in the IT industry is focusing on Smart Solutions, including IP cameras, with special focus on SME segment.
ZyXEL’s main concept is one-connect where they are focusing on one solution for all connections. They are also focusing on Smart City Solutions, Smart Home, Mobility, etc. The company is focusing both on hardware and infrastructure. They also have 4G LTE solutions for the smart homes.

BenQ has launched new gaming Zimeu monitors, keyboard, etc. BenQ is focusing on 3 div: 1. Gaming monitors, 2. Projectors for education and home theatre, and 3. Signage solutions.
DrayTek started in 1997 has their main focus in on telecom and networking segments. with investing 45% on R&D. That shows how much they focus on innovation.

Overall the media tour was very exciting. The hosts and the brands were very cordials and they showed their forward-looking technologies to the visitors. For us, the tour is another step forward in India-Taiwan trade relations which can benefit both the countries.
