STT GDC India expands its operations by developing a new Data Centre in Bengaluru

STT Global Data Centres India Private Limited (STT GDC India) its new Data Centre (Bengaluru DC3), in Whitefield, Bengaluru. This announcement marks the commencement of the company’s multi megawatt capacity expansion plan spanning across major cities in the country (to be delivered over the next 16 to 20 months) further strengthening STT GDC India’s leadership position in the India data center market. This facility is expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2019.

With rising expectations from enterprises and cloud service providers for data centre facilities that are highly resilient, secure and able to support the growing market needs, Bengaluru DC3 has been designed to ensure that it meets the most stringent of customer requirements.

Sumit Mukhija, CEO of STT GDC India said, “The Indian data centre market is on a significant growth trajectory and is expected to grow to $3.2 billion in 2018. By 2020, India is forecasted to become one of the largest markets for data centres in Asia-Pacific. This expansion will increase the number of facilities under STT GDC India’s ownership and management to 15 and will increase STT GDC India’s portfolio to over 85 MW of IT power across 8 cities, while further strengthening the company’s market-leading position as the Indian data centre provider of choice for customers with mission-critical hosting requirements.

Together with its minority shareholder Tata Communications, STT GDC India’s latest expansion reinforces the strategic partnership between the two dynamic companies, working closely and drawing on each other’s complementary capabilities and experience to accelerate growth in the vibrant data centre markets in India.
