“In the last few years, many companies and brands have started selling security and surveillance systems. In April 2025, the Indian government has made STQC & BIS certification mandatory for all IP CCTV cameras sold in India with security in mind. With the STQC’s ER IoTSCS norms coming into effect, the government has closed the doors to non-compliant surveillance cameras, imported or domestic. This is a crucial step aimed at strengthening national security and data protection within the surveillance sector, because the imported CCTVs could have secret apps that could store and transmit the critical security to the hostile countries which can compromise the safety security information. In fact, there were reports that some security information such as locations of certain facilities, movements of key persons, etc had been leaked to our neighboring enemy countries. The enemies can use the information to target the locations and individuals. This shows the degree of risk if we use compromised security cameras and systems. Today, warfare is no longer limited to physical and has also become digital. The recent clash with our neighboring country shows how critical stolen information can be used to cause destruction and damage. IP cameras if compromised can be used as sources of critical information needed to target the key locations, individuals and infrastructure. The recent STQC certification is the essential shield to ensure trust, sovereignty, supply chain integrity and to gain full control of security of national importance. Most of the developed countries have already banned the imported and unverified security and surveillance systems. These security certifications are being gradually extended to other critical products like networking products and also to the software apps (which need CERT-IN compliance). Sooner or later, most IT and other products will come under the certification shield to make the national security. The idea of ensuring the installation of secure products started as early as 2020, but now it has become mandatory across several products and areas. Starting from April 2025, without BIS-ER certification, IP cameras cannot be imported, sold, hired, leased, billed or invoiced domestically. Sparsh CCTV has a wide range of security cameras meeting all the necessary certifications and compliances. Sparsh CCTV fulfilled many government orders to install security cameras in Jammu & Kashmir recently. We also have a range of upcoming certified security systems which will be available in the coming months. I thank NCN for giving the opportunity to give this presentation and the audience for listening with interest and attention.”
