Sparsh CCTV, India’s leading Make-in-India surveillance and security solutions provider, recently engaged in an exclusive interaction with NCN Magazine, Mr. Sanjeev Sehgal, Founder & Managing Director, Sparsh CCTV, shares his vision on AI-driven surveillance, innovation, Make in India future.

How do you see the surveillance industry evolving today and ahead?

The surveillance industry is undergoing a fundamental shift. Earlier, surveillance meant installing a camera, recording footage, and later reviewing it if something went wrong. That model was reactive. Today, surveillance is becoming proactive and predictive. Cameras are no longer passive recording devices; they are intelligent systems that analyze, interpret, and even guide actions in real time.

We are moving from simple video capture to systems powered by artificial intelligence that can understand behavior, detect anomalies, and support decision-making. Surveillance today is about prevention, efficiency, safety, and operational intelligence—not just security after an incident has occurred.

What are the key challenges with the traditional CCTV systems?

One of the biggest challenges was reliability. You installed a camera assuming it was working, but you only discovered whether it was non-functional after an incident—when it was already too late. Many times, people realized that cameras were off, recordings were missing, or the network had failed exactly when footage was needed the most.

Another major issue was physical vulnerability. DVRs being stolen, hard disks removed or damaged—these are very common problems. Even if cameras were installed properly, the data itself was not secure. These challenges highlighted the need for smarter systems that ensure uptime, data integrity, and accountability.

How has Sparsh CCTV addressed the reliability and monitoring issues?

We introduced a system health monitoring solution that continuously checks whether cameras are active, recording properly, and connected to the network. With a very minimal monthly cost, users can get real-time status updates on their entire surveillance system.

This shifts the responsibility from assumption to certainty. You know whether your system is working at any given moment. It transforms surveillance from a ‘set and forget’ model to an actively managed infrastructure.

How do you ensure data security against theft or recording damage?

This is where cloud storage becomes extremely important. Physical storage has inherent risks—devices can be stolen, damaged, or tampered with. By integrating cloud-based recording options, we ensure that even if local hardware is compromised, critical data remains safe and accessible.

To help users understand the value of cloud storage, we made it accessible and experiential. By offering cloud recording access across multiple recorder configurations for a limited period, users can see firsthand how powerful and reliable this approach is. Once they experience it, adoption becomes natural.

How are cameras enabling smarter infrastructure beyond traditional security?

Cameras today are becoming multi-purpose sensors. For example, in transportation infrastructure, cameras can monitor traffic flow, identify congestion, and dynamically guide vehicles to reduce bottlenecks. They can recognize vehicle number plates, detect blacklisted vehicles, and trigger alerts well before a potential threat reaches sensitive areas.

Similarly, facial recognition and behavioral analytics allow systems to identify persons of interest, monitor crowd density, and support proactive interventions. Surveillance is now deeply integrated into urban management and critical infrastructure operations.

How do cameras contribute to safety and compliance in industrial and workplace environments?

Safety compliance is one of the most impactful applications of intelligent surveillance. Cameras can detect whether safety gear like helmets, PPE kits, or caps are being worn properly. Supervisors may not always notice lapses, especially in large or complex environments, but AI-powered cameras never get tired.

This ensures continuous monitoring and immediate alerts if safety protocols are violated. Cameras thus become supervisory tools that help prevent accidents rather than just documenting them after the fact.

Cameras are no longer ‘dead devices’—what truly makes them intelligent today?

A dead device only records without understanding the context. A smart camera, on the other hand, analyzes data in real time, triggers actions, and supports decision-making. Today, the same camera can simultaneously handle security, safety, process monitoring, and operational efficiency.

The real value lies in real-time insights and real-time action. Surveillance systems today can generate alerts, integrate with other platforms, and even control processes automatically. That’s what transforms a camera into an intelligent device.

What kind of AI innovations are you focusing on?

We are moving beyond basic analytics to advanced AI models, including generative and agentic AI. The idea is to make systems intuitive and responsive. For example, instead of manually searching hours of footage, a user can simply ask the system to find people wearing a red shirt during a specific time window.

The system understands the request, analyzes the footage, and delivers results instantly. This kind of contextual search was unthinkable earlier. AI is making surveillance systems faster, smarter, and far more user-friendly.

How do you balance hardware and software to deliver complete solutions?

At Sparsh CCTV, we don’t sell cameras—we deliver solutions. That means integrating hardware, embedded software, video management systems, AI analytics, building management systems, and customized intelligence into one unified ecosystem.

Every requirement is different, and AI must be customized accordingly. Our strength lies in building solutions around real-world use cases rather than offering generic products.

Can you share an example of a complex project that showcases this integrated approach?

One of the most unique implementations is in railway infrastructure projects involving tunnels, signaling systems, and real-time monitoring. These environments demand absolute reliability, precision, and instant response.

Our systems integrate video feeds with SCADA platforms, AI-based fire and smoke detection, obstacle detection, and automated alerts. Even in challenging conditions like low light or high-speed movement, AI detects anomalies and triggers immediate responses. Surveillance data directly supports operational control and safety mechanisms.

How do you see India’s potential to become a global manufacturing and export hub?

India has a massive advantage—a large domestic market, growing infrastructure, and cost-effective skilled labor. Manufacturing thrives where demand exists, and India offers unmatched scale. As domestic consumption grows, it naturally builds capacity for global supply.

When you combine competitive labor costs with improving quality standards and strong engineering talent, India can compete globally, even against established manufacturing giants. With the right mindset, we can manufacture not just for India, but for the world.

How important is service and support in the surveillance business?

Service is critical. Surveillance systems are highly dependent on correct installation, camera angles, positioning, and ongoing maintenance. Even the best technology fails if it’s not supported properly.

That’s why we are building a strong, company-owned service network across the country. This ensures consistent quality, faster response times, and deep technical expertise at the local level. Service is not an afterthought—it is a core part of our value proposition.

What kind of service infrastructure is Sparsh CCTV developing nationwide?

Our focus is on building company-owned service centers supported by trained professionals. These centers will handle installation guidance, troubleshooting, and advanced support requirements.

By keeping service in-house, we maintain control over quality and accountability. This approach ensures that customers receive the same standard of support, regardless of location.

What message would you like to share with aspiring entrepreneurs and partners?

This is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country. Infrastructure development, smart cities, transportation upgrades, industrial expansion—all of these require surveillance solutions.

The opportunities are enormous, and the ecosystem is still evolving. Anyone entering this space today has the chance to grow alongside the industry. We welcome partners who believe in innovation, indigenous development, and long-term value creation.

What is your message on Made in India?

Believe in it. India has the talent, the market, and the capability to build world-class solutions. When we design and manufacture locally, we gain agility, control, and the ability to customize for real needs.

Made in India is not just about cost—it’s about confidence, capability, and creating solutions that can compete globally. If we believe in ourselves, the world will believe in us too.
