During an exclusive interaction with NCN Magazine, Mr. Vijay Sharma, Managing Director, Optoma India, shares insights on display innovation, AI integration, Make-in-India initiatives, and evolving market trends.

What is Optoma’s current focus and product expansion strategy?

Traditionally, Optoma has been synonymous with high-quality projectors. Today, market is moving toward complete display solutions. To meet this demand, Optoma has diversified its offerings to cater to education, corporate, and professional segments. Our focus is on providing holistic display solutions, encompassing projectors, interactive flat panels, professional displays, and LED products. This enables us to address a broader set of requirements and ensure customers receive an integrated experience rather than standalone products.

Can you give us an overview of your current product portfolio?

We recently introduced our Made-in-India Interactive Flat Panels 3 Series, complementing our existing 5 Series. These panels feature advanced functionality, designed to foster engagement in both classrooms and corporate spaces.

Alongside interactive displays, we offer professional displays ranging from 43 inches up to 98 inches, ideal for offices, meeting rooms, and collaborative spaces.

Additionally, we’ve launched COB (Chip on Board) all-in-one LED displays, currently available in a 135-inch variant, with other sizes planned. In the projector segment, our award-winning ZK1320 projector in the Pro EV category delivers 13,500 lumens with 4K UHD+ laser technology, suitable for large venues requiring high brightness and superior image quality.

Overall, our portfolio now spans interactive displays from 65 to 86 inches, professional displays from 43 to 98 inches, and LED solutions in multiple sizes, including 108, 135, and 163 inches. This expansion positions Optoma as a complete display solutions provider rather than just a projector company.

How has the market evolved, particularly in education and higher education?

The post-pandemic market has undergone a significant shift. In K12 education, there’s a clear move away from traditional projectors toward interactive displays. Schools and educational institutions now prefer solutions that encourage collaboration, engagement, and immersive learning experiences.

In higher education, the preference has shifted from high-brightness lamp projectors to high-brightness laser projectors. The market is now balanced between interactive displays and laser projectors, including short-throw and ultra-short-throw models. Institutions increasingly seek versatile solutions that adapt to different environments while ensuring reliability and low maintenance.

How is Optoma incorporating AI into its display solutions?

AI is certainly a game-changer, and Optoma is actively incorporating it into our display and projector solutions. Our Interactive Flat Panels 3 Series already feature AI-enabled tools, enhancing collaboration and interactivity in classrooms and offices. These tools streamline workflows, simplify content management, and make collaboration more intuitive.

We plan to extend AI capabilities to our 5 Series and other display products in the near future. AI in education and corporate environments is growing rapidly, and by integrating it, we aim to deliver smarter, more engaging experiences while anticipating future market needs.

How is Optoma aligning with the Make-in-India initiative?

Local manufacturing is a priority for us. We have invested significantly in producing our Interactive Flat Panels in India, ensuring international quality standards while supporting domestic production.

This approach aligns with government initiatives and strengthens our ability to innovate quickly, scale efficiently, and offer products that are reliable and affordable. Soon, we will expand this to projectors and AI-enabled OLED displays, creating a comprehensive Make-in-India portfolio.

How does Optoma ensure reliable service and support for customers?

Service is central to building customer trust. We have scaled up our service network to provide on-site support across more than 500 pin codes in India. Most of our products come with on-site service, giving customers complete peace of mind.

For instance, our laser projectors now carry a three-year on-site warranty, up from the earlier two years. This demonstrates our commitment to reliability and strengthens the value we offer beyond the initial purchase.

Which customer segments is Optoma primarily targeting with its range?

Our solutions cater to K12 education, higher education, corporate environments, professional AV setups, and large venues requiring high-brightness projection. Customers today seek complete, integrated solutions rather than standalone products. Our portfolio addresses these requirements comprehensively, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of all these segments.

What do you see as the future of display solutions in India?

The future is clearly oriented toward integrated, AI-enabled, high-quality display solutions. Customers now want systems that enhance collaboration, engagement, and productivity rather than isolated products.
