nevales3-3-14Nevales Networks launched its next generation security gateway appliance ‘Aquamarine’ at Mobile World Congress 2014.Aquamarine is part of Nevales lineup of cloud security gateways, designed to redefine the performance and power consumption criteria for a modern distributed enterprise. In addition, the high-performance, energy-efficient, cost-effective plug-and-play ready security gateway device is smaller than a smart phone.

The device is powered by Ingenic’s JZ4780, a highly integrated dual core MIPS-based SoC, which leverages a 1.3GHz+ MIPS-based XBurst CPU. Because it is built on the MIPS architecture from Imagination Technologies, the energy efficiency of the new device has improved over Nevales’ previous generation products, consuming approximately 140mW per GHz under full load. With its futuristic form factor and smart design, combined with high performance and energy efficiency, the device is one-of-a-kind in the security and connectivity domain.

Nevales range of devices integrates several key security features like firewall, VPN, content filtering, authentication, access and policy control and combines it with connectivity features like Wi-Fi access point, dual ISP balancing and failover, all in one single easy-to-manage device available on subscription model. The Cloud Security Gateway can be centrally managed using the Nevales web interface across any number of distributed locations, allowing for automatically administering policies, configurations, updates and upgrades from the cloud – enabling branch deployments without the need for on-site IT and making it ideal for branch office and remote location deployments.

Nevales’ on premise Cloud Security Gateway + Cloud service is a unique platform for the carriers to provide a fully managed solution to their customers, as they are constantly seeking to increase topline revenues, raise ARPU, and decrease churn without incurring any substantial capital expenditures. Carriers have a two folded opportunity, one where they add Managed Security Services as a Value Added Service, and secondly with large deployments of Wireless Internet, Carriers can provide both connectivity and security through premium data plans.

Kaushik Thakkar, Co-Founder and CEO at Nevales Networks said, “We are very excited to launch Aquamarine, our revolutionary new security gateway, at this year’s event. Our focus at Nevales is to develop superior solutions to address the real threats and needs of businesses today and Aquamarine delivers an unprecedented level of connectivity and network security that until today, just hasn’t been available and timing couldn’t have been any more perfect.”

Thakkar continued, “With Aquamarine, Imagination’s MIPS architecture has been instrumental in enabling us to achieve the horsepower needed to address gateway appliance requirements within the lowest possible cost and power envelopes. The result is outstanding; our new security gateway is very small but delivers matchless performance.”

“Nevales is an innovative company and its new Aquamarine is a compelling cloud-based solution that showcases the efficiency and performance benefits of Imagination’s MIPS architecture. We are pleased to be working closely with Nevales on this and future generations of its innovative security gateway appliances to help them achieve ever better levels of energy efficiency,” said Amit Rohatgi, Vice President, Strategic Marketing, Imagination Technologies.
