NComputing  announced NComputing oneSpace, a new unified workspace solution that enables IT to unify and securely deliver applications and files as a service to a variety of devices, including iPads and Android tablets.

NComputing oneSpace greatly enhances productivity by allowing users to securely access the applications and files they need through a unified workspace from their device of choice, while giving IT complete, centralized control over the workspace environment. This solution is currently in a select customer private beta. NComputing will open access to a public beta in early spring of 2014.

Small and mid-sized organizations (SMBs) are experiencing rapid expansion of mobile device use in the workplace, thanks to an on-the-go workforce and today’s Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) trend. According to an NComputing-sponsored survey of SMB IT professionals on mobility trends to be released next month, 83 percent of respondents believe that making business applications and data available on mobile devices would have a high or medium impact on their business. Yet 86 percent acknowledge that there are challenges with giving mobile employees access to Windows applications on their mobile devices.

One of the toughest challenges for IT is extending Windows apps to non-Windows devices, which typically requires significant changes and/or additions to the backend infrastructure. With NComputing oneSpace, IT can mobilize Windows applications – including custom applications – and deliver them to tablets, without having to re-write them or make costly changes to their existing infrastructure. oneSpace enables the delivery of full-featured Windows apps to iPads and Android tablets with a mobile-friendly user experience, including full screen apps, multi-tasking between apps and touch gestures.

On this occasion, Raj Dhingra, CEO, NComputing, said, “Today’s IT administrator is tasked with delivering applications and files as seamlessly as possible to a variety of devices, with the lowest cost and minimal IT resources. With NComputing oneSpace, our customers can extend the value of their existing vSpace investments to modernize their desktop, application and file delivery strategy to meet the growing needs of an increasingly mobile workforce and embrace BYOD initiatives, all at a friendly price point. And new customers can get rapid deployment and fast time to value by leveraging the oneSpace cloud-based service, eliminating the time and effort usually spent to install and configure hardware and software on premises.”

Mobile users have been rapidly adopting consumer cloud file services such as Dropbox as a convenient way to store files for access from multiple devices. But this can cause issues with IT when this puts sensitive data outside of their control. With NComputing oneSpace, IT can now offer users unified access to all their files – including access to existing cloud and on-premise file shares – while applying their own security policies and control. Users can securely search, view, edit, copy, move and share files from their iPads or Android tablets via a mobile-friendly, touch-gesture experience. Users can also universally search for files across all their file stores to easily find and access their files, and “favorite” files for offline use. Since all file shares are accessed within the oneSpace unified workspace, user demands and IT requirements are both satisfied.

Designed to fulfill the demands of today’s mobile employees, NComputing oneSpace leverages NComputing’s award-winning vSpace client virtualization platform to provide the simplicity, productivity and secure access that small and mid-sized organizations need to compete and thrive in today’s world of hybrid apps, files and endpoint devices. Current NComputing vSpace customers can leverage their existing on-premise vSpace server to rapidly and seamlessly unify the delivery of Windows, Linux, Web and SaaS applications, plus cloud and on-premise files to mobile devices, by simply adding the oneSpace cloud-based service. New customers have the option of an all-cloud or hybrid deployment model, for the ultimate in flexibility.

Brett Waldman, Research Manager, End User Computing, IDC, said, “There is a growing market demand for simple workspace solutions that unify mobile, desktop and SaaS applications and data that can be accessed from any device. For organizations looking to remain competitive, it is important to enable employees to take full advantage of their mobile devices by supplying them with corporate sanctioned applications, even Windows applications, on their device of choice. NComputing oneSpace provides such a solution that is tailored for small and medium sized businesses.”

NComputing oneSpace represents another step forward in NComputing’s mission to deliver the most innovative client virtualization solutions to the market today, with a unique formula of simplicity, performance and value. NComputing was recently named a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape Worldwide Client Virtualization Software 2013 Vendor Assessment Report, which noted NComputing’s successful evolution from “a device-centric company” to a “software company with a client virtualization platform purpose built for simplicity, low cost, and minimal IT resources.”
