Matrix is a leading provider of a wide range of Security & Surveillance solutions. In an interaction with NCN, Mr. Ganesh Jivani, MD & CEO, Matrix Comsec, shares about their vision, product portfolio, market strategy, and future plans.

What are the latest technology and market trends in the Security & Surveillance space in India? How AI is impacting this space?

India’s Security & Surveillance market is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by rapid urbanization, smart city initiatives, critical infrastructure projects, and increasing cybersecurity awareness. Organizations today are moving beyond traditional CCTV systems and investing in intelligent, integrated security platforms that deliver actionable insights rather than just video recordings.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as the biggest technology disruptor in this space. AI-powered video analytics now enable real-time detection of security events such as intrusion, loitering, tripwire violations, person and vehicle detection, crowd monitoring, and perimeter protection. These capabilities significantly reduce operator workload, minimize false alarms, and improve incident response times.

Another notable trend is the increasing adoption of unified security platforms that integrate Video Surveillance, Access Control, Time Attendance, Visitor Management, and other physical security solutions. Today, customers increasingly prefer a single platform that provides centralized monitoring, automation, and seamless interoperability.

Cybersecurity has also become a key purchasing criterion. Customers are evaluating solutions based on secure communication, encrypted data transmission, secure software development practices, and compliance with global cybersecurity standards. Additionally, government initiatives such as the emphasis on Make in India and the implementation of quality and security regulations are encouraging the adoption of trusted indigenous products.

At Matrix, we believe the future lies in AI-driven, cyber-secure, and fully integrated security ecosystems. Our focus remains on developing indigenous technologies that combine intelligent video analytics, unified security management, and secure-by-design architecture to address evolving enterprise and government security requirements.

What is your Matrix current Security & Surveillance product-line and how did you fare in this segment in the last 12 months?

Matrix offers a comprehensive portfolio of enterprise-grade Security & Surveillance solutions designed and manufactured under the Make in India initiative. Our portfolio includes IP Cameras, Enterprise Network Video Recorders (NVRs), and Video Management Software. These solutions can natively be integrated with Matrix Access Control and Time Attendance systems, enabling customers to deploy a unified physical security ecosystem. Our surveillance platform supports advanced AI-powered analytics including Person Detection, Vehicle Detection, Intrusion Detection, Trip Wire, Loitering, and several other security-centric use cases. The entire ecosystem is developed in-house, ensuring seamless interoperability, enhanced cybersecurity, and simplified lifecycle management.

Over the past 12 months, Matrix has continued to strengthen its presence across enterprise, manufacturing, education, healthcare, BFSI, government, transportation, and critical infrastructure segments. We have witnessed increasing demand for integrated surveillance solutions that combine AI, centralized monitoring, and cybersecurity within a single platform.

The market has responded positively to our indigenous technology, particularly our ability to offer Cameras, NVRs, Video Management Software, AI Analytics, Access Control, and Time Attendance from a single manufacturer. Customers increasingly value our unified architecture, secure communication framework, and reduced dependency on multiple vendors. We remain committed to continuous innovation and expanding our surveillance portfolio to meet the evolving security requirements of modern enterprises.

How the govt’s policy to allow only the STQC-certified products to be sold in India affects the brands and the market?

The Government of India’s decision to mandate STQC certification is a significant step toward strengthening the country’s security ecosystem. It establishes clear benchmarks for quality, cybersecurity, and trusted surveillance infrastructure, particularly for government and critical infrastructure deployments. For responsible manufacturers, this policy creates a level playing field by promoting products that meet stringent security and performance standards. It also encourages greater investment in indigenous R&D, secure product development, and long-term manufacturing capabilities within India.

For customers, STQC certification enhances confidence that surveillance products have undergone rigorous evaluation for quality, cybersecurity, and compliance with government requirements. This is increasingly important as surveillance systems become part of national critical infrastructure. While compliance requires investment in product development, testing, and certification, it also drives innovation and raises overall industry standards. Manufacturers focused on long-term value and technology leadership are better positioned to benefit from this transition.

At Matrix, quality, cybersecurity, and indigenous product development have always been central to our strategy. Our strong in-house R&D, secure development processes, and Make in India manufacturing philosophy align well with the objectives of the STQC framework. Overall, the policy is expected to improve product quality, enhance cybersecurity resilience, encourage domestic manufacturing, and build a more trusted surveillance ecosystem in India.

Brief us about Matrix’s domestic manufacturing system, differentiators and certifications.

Matrix has consistently invested in indigenous design, research, manufacturing, and innovation. Our surveillance solutions—including IP Cameras, NVRs, and Video Management Software—are developed through our in-house R&D and manufactured in India, supporting the Government’s Make in India vision. Our key differentiator is our ability to offer a complete security ecosystem from a single manufacturer. Customers benefit from native integration between Video Surveillance, Access Control, Time Attendance, and centralized management software without relying on multiple vendors.

Another major differentiator is cybersecurity. Matrix follows secure product development practices and offers end-to-end encrypted communication between cameras, NVRs, and software. Our Video Management Software platform – SATATYA SAMAS is developed following OWASP secure development practices, reinforcing protection against evolving cyber threats. We also provide advanced AI-powered analytics, centralized management for efficient multi-site monitoring, customizable workflow automation, and ONVIF interoperability for customers with mixed environments.

Our continued investment in R&D enables us to deliver solutions tailored to Indian operational requirements while meeting global quality expectations. By combining indigenous innovation, manufacturing excellence, secure architecture, and unified security management, Matrix has established itself as a trusted technology partner for enterprise and government customers.

What opportunities and challenges do you see in the Security & Surveillance space and how do you respond to them?

India’s Security & Surveillance industry presents tremendous growth opportunities driven by digital transformation, smart infrastructure, industrial expansion, urban development, and increasing awareness of cybersecurity. Organizations are increasingly looking for intelligent, integrated, and cyber-secured security solutions rather than standalone surveillance systems. AI-powered analytics, cloud-enabled management, unified physical security, and centralized monitoring across multiple locations are expected to remain key growth drivers. Government initiatives supporting indigenous manufacturing also create significant opportunities for Indian technology companies.

However, the industry also faces challenges. Customers often operate in heterogeneous environments with legacy systems from multiple vendors. Cybersecurity risks continue to evolve, while rapid technological upgrades require continuous innovation. Price-driven purchasing decisions can also affect long-term solution quality. At Matrix, we address these challenges through continuous investment in R&D and by developing an integrated ecosystem comprising Cameras, NVRs, Video Management Software, AI Analytics, Access Control, and Time Attendance. Our ONVIF support enables customers to integrate existing infrastructure while gradually transitioning to a fully integrated platform.

We prioritize cybersecurity through secure-by-design architecture, encrypted communication, and secure software development practices. At the same time, our AI-powered analytics and workflow automation improve operational efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership. Our strategy is to combine indigenous innovation, customer-centric product development, and long-term technology investment to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready surveillance solutions.

What is the Matrix distribution model and how do you educate and motivate your partners?

Matrix follows a strong partner-led business model supported by a wide network of distributors, system integrators, channel partners, and technology partners across India and international markets. Our objective is not only to supply products but also to build long-term business partnerships.
