Mr. Sukanta Dey, B.Tech in IT from IIT Kharagpur & an MBA from IIM Kolkata, An IT Industry Veteran
“Today, we are witnessing a significant transformation in India’s technology and manufacturing ecosystem, with Made in India emerging as an integral part of our growth story. The eminent speakers here will share their valuable perspectives on the milestones achieved, challenges that remain, and opportunities ahead as India advances towards an AI-powered future. Our journey has taken time, but Made in India is now firmly shaping the ecosystem, encouraging businesses to innovate, manufacture and develop solutions within the country. The next phase is about creating products and services in India, for India and the world. This will strengthen capabilities, drive innovation and position India as a global technology hub.”

Mr. Sanjeev Sehgal, Founder & Managing Director, Sparsh CCTV
“India’s manufacturing journey in electronics has come a long way, and the transformation is truly remarkable. When we entered the CCTV industry in 2002, surveillance was considered a luxury, with only a handful of airports using CCTV systems. Today, it has become an essential part of homes, businesses and public infrastructure. Our journey reflects how Indian companies can identify opportunities, innovate and build products locally. We started with CCTV accessories and eventually designed and developed a CCTV camera in India in 2008. That milestone demonstrated that Indian companies can move from assembling products to designing and manufacturing them. With AI now transforming surveillance, India has an even greater opportunity to develop intelligent, innovative and globally competitive security solutions.”

Mr. Sanjay Taneja, Director – Collaboration, A&T Video Networks
“India’s collaboration technology journey has evolved tremendously over the past 28 years, moving from basic video conferencing to intelligent, AI-powered communication solutions. At A&T Video Networks, our focus has always been on developing solutions suited to Indian requirements while creating technologies with global relevance. Today, AI is enabling cameras, speaker microphones and collaboration systems to deliver capabilities such as presenter tracking, speaker tracking, motion tracking and gesture control. These intelligent devices demonstrate how India is progressing from being a technology consumer to becoming a technology creator. Government initiatives supporting Make in India are further accelerating this transformation. The opportunity ahead is enormous: to develop innovative, intelligent and globally competitive products that are made in India and designed for the world.”

Ms. Aarushi Rajpal, Director, ProDot Group
“Manufacturing is not only about machines, infrastructure and technology; it is fundamentally about people. At ProDot, we believe that investing in human capability is essential to building a strong Make in India ecosystem. We focus on SOP-based training, video-based learning and on-the-job training to continuously strengthen the skills of our workforce. Our objective is to ensure that employees do not remain merely operators but become capable problem-solvers who can respond effectively to challenges. Knowledge sharing and hands-on learning play a vital role in this transformation. As manufacturing becomes increasingly technology-driven and AI-enabled, skilled people will remain our biggest strength. India’s opportunity lies in combining advanced technology with capable human talent to create products that can compete globally.”

Ms. Preeti Kela, Director, Net Protector Antivirus
“In an AI-powered world, data has become one of the most valuable assets for governments, financial institutions and businesses. As organisations rapidly adopt AI, the cyber threats targeting this data are also becoming more sophisticated. This makes cybersecurity, data privacy, governance and sovereignty increasingly critical to India’s digital future. Building indigenous cybersecurity capabilities is therefore not just an opportunity but a strategic necessity. At Net Protector, we are focused on innovating and developing world-class cybersecurity solutions that provide strong detection and protection for the digital ecosystem. Our Made in India and Made for India approach also has global potential. A self-reliant cybersecurity ecosystem can strengthen Atmanirbhar Bharat while enabling Indian security technologies to compete confidently in international markets.”

Mr. Vignesh Gurunathan, National Product Manager, Solitaire Brand Business
“India has made significant progress in electronics manufacturing, but the next milestone must be moving beyond assembly towards deeper component-level manufacturing. Government initiatives such as MSME support and PLI schemes are creating momentum, while major investments in industrial infrastructure are strengthening the ecosystem. However, we still need stronger intellectual property, semiconductor capabilities, research institutions and indigenous component manufacturing to become truly self-reliant. In sectors such as interactive panels, India is still developing these capabilities. The emergence of new industrial parks and large-scale investments is encouraging and can accelerate this transition. The journey from ‘assembled in India’ to ‘Made in India, Made for the World’ will take time, but the direction is right and the opportunity is enormous.”

Mr. Sagar Narang, CEO & Co-Founder, Elcom Digital
“My Make in India journey began when I was working in the US as part of the founding team of Alexa and was involved in its internationalisation. While working on global technology, I began asking myself why I should be sitting outside India and creating technologies for the country when there was an opportunity to build them from within India. That thought became the seed of my entrepreneurial journey. Returning to India, I realised that technologies taken for granted in developed markets could create tremendous impact here. Today, through Elcom and our NoSky brand, we are developing AI intelligence for India’s MSMEs. For me, Make in India is not simply about manufacturing – it is about creating meaningful technology in India that solves real problems and has the potential to serve the world.”
In a Nutshell
India’s Make in India journey is evolving from assembly-led manufacturing to indigenous innovation, intelligent solutions and global product creation. The panel highlighted key milestones across electronics, surveillance, collaboration technology, cybersecurity and AI, while underscoring challenges around components, semiconductors, skills, IP and infrastructure. Speakers emphasised that skilled talent, indigenous technology and strong R&D will be crucial to achieving deeper self-reliance. With AI accelerating transformation across industries, India has a unique opportunity to build world-class products and solutions – Made in India, Made for India and Made for the World.
