What is JETRO’s key objective in participating at the India AI Impact Summit 2026?
Our primary objective is to strengthen the economic and technological partnership between Japan and India, especially in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, manufacturing, and semiconductors. This time, we are hosting seven Japanese companies at the Japan Pavilion, providing them with a platform to showcase their innovations and explore collaboration opportunities. The summit is an excellent opportunity to connect with Indian stakeholders and understand the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem in India.
How do Japanese companies view India’s technology ecosystem and talent?
Most of the Japanese companies participating in the Japan Pavilion are truly astonished by the young and highly skilled Indian talent. They recognize India’s strong digital capabilities, innovation mindset, and vast growth potential. This exposure has strengthened their confidence in India as a strategic partner for future investments and technology collaborations. We sincerely appreciate this opportunity to witness such dynamic talent and engagement.
How is JETRO supporting Japanese companies and investments in India?
JETRO plays a key role in facilitating the expansion of Japanese companies in India. Currently, around 1,400 Japanese companies are operating in India, exploring manufacturing bases and making significant investments exceeding ₹2.7 lakh crore. We provide market insights, business matchmaking, and strategic guidance to ensure smooth market entry and long-term growth.
What role does AI play in strengthening India-Japan collaboration?
AI is a major focus area in the India-Japan partnership. We are supporting the integration of AI with India’s public digital infrastructure to enhance transparency, efficiency, and innovation. Additionally, JETRO has accelerated over 2,000 startups between 2019 and 2025, fostering collaboration between Japanese corporations and Indian innovators. Our strategic focus includes applying AI across manufacturing, mobility, and sustainability, which will drive mutual growth and create a stronger technology ecosystem for both nations.
