Devesh Rastogi, Sr VP, FAIITA, who has participated in the VC (video conference), said:”We had a VC on MAIT’s platform where I represented FAIITA. The paticipants in the meeting, besides me, included, the team of Meity headed by Secretary IT and Industry, MD of Intel, MD of DELL, MD of CISCO, MD of Apple India etc. I am happy to inform all of you that IT ministry has agreed to recommend ICT Hardware as part of essential or consumer good.
The proposal now is going to Home Ministry to this effect and it appears that in next 4 to 5 days it should be cleared. Once it is approved, partners can open their shops ans sell ICT hardware with the only condition that they will take orders online and despatch through Flipkart, Amazon, courier, etc and won’t sell to visiting buyers directly during the lockdown period. Once it comes into force, it will be some relief to the ICT industry during lockdown. FAIITA with connectivity at national and district levels will do its best to help the ICT partners take benefit of this relaxation.”
