epsion_minoru-usuiRecently Epson organized select media briefing to discuss the company’s success story and the evolution of its Ink Tank printers in Delhi. On the occasion, Minoru Usui, President, Seiko Epson Corporation discussed about the Epson’s initiatives and new printing technology for the Indian market through power point presentation.

On this occasion, Minoru Usui, President, Seiko Epson Corporation, said, “India for us is a huge potential market with a strong economy compared to the global economic scenario. The total Indian printer market is 3.1million units (Rs.22, 880mn) and expected to grow to 3.4 million units (Rs.25, 883mn) in FY2014. On the technology front, Inkjet single function, DMP & laser single function printers declined and Inkjet multifunction grew 19%. Today the Inkjet printers are making strong inroads into laser market offering greater value to SOHO & SMBs. So far as Epson’s position is concerned, it has No.1 in dot matrix printers, No.1 in bill printers and now No.1 in inkjet printers (value).”

“Overall printer market expected to grow from Rs. 22,880 Million in 2013 to Rs33, 000 Million in 2017. Robust growth expected across inkjet and laser printer categories. Corporate will select the best and most cost effective solutions. Epson uniquely poised to capture a very significant share of this market,” he added further.

According to Minoru Usui, Epson wanted to make deeper inroads to the office and corporate print user. We wanted to capture 15%-20% of the office laser printer market by 2017 (300,000 units). We wanted to focus on providing the right customer value by not just meeting their requirements but exceeding them.

In recent times more and more customers are becoming technology neutral they are not bothered whether there prints are printed from a Laser or Inkjet. The bottom line is all they want is quality and cost effective prints.

“ As far as Epson is concerned we strongly believe that the future of Printing is with InkTank technology printers which can address  both the current users of Lasers as well as those of conventional cartridge based Inkjets. This is the technology that provides the ideal solution to all printer users with no compromise,” added, Ram Prasad S M – DGM – Consumer Products Group, Epson India.
