Epson announced the launch of their new T6 SCARA Robot in India. Following the success of their T3 SCARA Robots introduced earlier, the new T6 Scara Robot being introduced is designed to lower the barriers to automation at the customer’s end and is perfect for automating simple material handling tasks.

The Epson T6 SCARA All-in-One robot was designed with simplicity in mind. With the controller embedded in the base of the arm, the T6 robot is incredibly simple to install, setup and takes up a fraction of the space required by robots that have a separate controller. The T6 has doubled the payload capacity (6 kg) of Epson’s T3 (3kg) robot and with a reach of 600 mm (in comparison to 400mm with the T3), it can transport larger, heavier objects.

The T Series is ideal for automation of test machine loading/unloading and other simple processes that previously relied on people because automation did not make financial sense. T series robots can be used instead of multiple low-cost single-axis robots that take up a lot of space and require troublesome adjustment and maintenance work. Users will save space, reduce setup time, and minimize downtime. The new T6 Scara Robot is ideal for deployment in industries like automotive, electronics, consumer products, industrial products, medical, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor, banking etc.

The T6 has a battery less motor unit that reduces maintenance and factory downtime. Factory owners do not need to exchange batteries because the T6 is able to record the back-up status of its motors by using a simple mechanical system with the latest motor technologies. Further, Epson has provided an I/O communications port closer to the end-effector. This port makes it easier to connect cables to the end-effector and supply power to it. SCARA T6 has 30% better energy performance (power consumption: 0.66 kVA) than conventional SCARA robots, therefore helping factory owners reduce long-term running costs. The T6 also runs on a single-phase alternating current at input voltages ranging from 100V to 240V, meaning that it can also be used in facilities where a large power supply is not available.

“The Scara T series Robots are extremely easy to set up, easy to use with an extremely low Total cost of Ownership. With costs starting at Rs. 4.5 lakhs, Automation is now extremely affordable. After seeing immense success with our T3 Scara Robots, we are glad to announce the launch of the T6 Scara. The size of the Indian robotics market is expected to double by 2020^ and we see a great potential for our T series Robots,’’ said P. Satyanarayana- Director, Robotics Division at Epson India.
