Dell announced its comprehensive strategy to enable faster and smoother customer migration to the software defined enterprise. Taking its Software Defined Storage vision forward, Dell has entered a global agreement with Nutanix, a leading provider of next-generation datacenter infrastructure solutions, to develop a series of converged infrastructure appliances.
The new Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances will be built on Dell PowerEdge servers and powered by Nutanix software. Dell will build its portfolio of products that combine compute, storage and networking into a single offering, to benefit customers seeking an integrated IT approach, offering simple deployment, management and scale as needed. While Dell’s recently launched Storage SC4000 Series will be available worldwide during the third quarter of 2014, the Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances worldwide availability is planned for the fourth quarter of 2014.
“Dell is in an industry leading position to deliver server-centric, software-defined systems to automate and simplify IT,” said Alan Atkinson, vice president and general manager, Dell Storage. “Dell’s IT vision is customer led, defined by software, accelerated by hardware and standards driven for value and choice for our customers no matter where they start or what workloads they are seeking to run.” “This agreement with Dell highlights our shared commitment to disrupt traditional datacenter architectures and accelerate the adoption of web-scale infrastructure in the enterprise,” said Dheeraj Pandey, co-founder and CEO of Nutanix.
“Dell is the right partner to leverage our software-driven technology, and introduce powerful converged infrastructure appliances with a wide range of price and performance options geared toward supporting a variety of critical enterprise workloads.” “There is a growing market opportunity for advanced converged infrastructure solutions in India and Dell has the best strategy and capabilities to disrupt this growing, multi-billion dollar market. With the strongest ecosystem of technology partners in the industry, Dell is geared to deliver new capabilities and a simple and efficient IT infrastructure through the software-defined framework for mid- and large-sized enterprises.” said Neeraj Matiyani, Director, Storage Solutions, Dell India.
