On World Blood Donor Day 2018, this year the hosting country is Greece, with the theme ‘Blood Connects us All’. The Day has the slogan ‘Share Life, Give Blood’, referring to the caring and cohesion that giving blood and caring for others involves. Every year India requires about five Crore units of blood, out of which only a meager 2.5 Crore units of blood are available.
In our country, around 75% of this collection comes through voluntary donations. In West Bengal, forerunner in national blood donation movement, 85% of its, that is around 10 lakh units of annual demand comes from donation camps.
Understanding the gravity of the situation, Computer Association of Eastern India (COMPASS) and Supertron Electronics Pvt Ltd ( SUPERTRON ) have decided to organize Blood Donation Camp as their CSR project on World Blood Donors Day with the support of Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, West Bengal at BNCI Auditorium ,23 R. N. Mukherjee Road.
The camp was from 11A.M.morning to 4 in the evening, more than 100 person has donated the Blood which is very good and rare according to the Blood bank person.
V.K.Bhandari CMD of Supertron Electronics Pvt Ltd inaugurated the camp with lamp lighting with other COMPASS officials.
