Computer Association of Eastern India (COMPASS) organized the Philips Monitor-Compass Premier League’ 14 – a first ever DAY-AND-NIGHT cricket tournament of teams representing leading computer software and hardware companies in Kolkata.
This tournament was organized by COMPASS under the Chairmanship of Arun Saraf. In all, eight teams, namely AOC, COMPASS, EPSON, F&D, KASPERSKY, LOGITECH, SIGMA and SUPERTRON, participated in the tournament which was held at the GITANJALI STADIUM in South Kolkata on 8th and 9th February, 2014. PHILIPS MONITORS was the main sponsor of the event.
“I, as the Chairman of COMPASS, wanted to do something new and adventurous and proposed the idea of a Day-And-Night cricket tournament to the President of COMPASS, Pawan Jajodia, who, immediately approved the idea of a 2 day Day-And-Night cricket carnival,” said Arun Saraf.
Four teams, KASPERSKY, LOGITECH, AOC and EPSON, made it to the semi-finals. Amid twists and turns and high voltage action the KASPERSKY and EPSON teams clashed in the finals. It had all the actions and thrills of the game’s glorious uncertainties. KASPERSKY won the Philips Monitor-Compass Premier League’ 14 in style.
COMPASS had also organized gaming zones and magic shows for the kids, which added to the spirit of the cricket carnival with fun, food and entertainment with the DJ playing the latest numbers and cricket tunes. “It was a great tournament with sporting spirit, fun and frolic. The COMPASS members got an opportunity to spend some quality time to unwind from the otherwise demanding routine,” said Pawan Jajodia, President -COMPASS.
He expressed his gratitude to Chairman-Sports Arun Saraf along with all the Executive Committee Members and Sports Committee Members of COMPASS for their time and hard work in making the event a grand success.
