ADATA Technology is a leading manufacturer of high-performance DRAM modules and NAND Flash products. ADATA is the company’s brand name for general memory and storage products and XPG is their brand name for gaming memory and storage products. ADATA is No. 2 globally and No. 2 in the Indian market for memory products. As for DRAM in India, ADATA and XPG are ranking No. 2; for SSD ADATA No. 3 and XPG No. 2. In India, the company has been present for the past 12 years, but the company wants to promote and work more aggressively and aims to become No.1 brand for memory solutions in India. ADATA also has ambitious Make in India plans.

In an interaction with NCN Magazine, Mr. Charles Wei, who has been working with ADATA for a long-time and now being promoted to be Sales Head at ADATA, shares their company’s manufacturing plans, product policy, marketing strategies, and future goals for the India market.

Congrats to you on the occasion of taking charge as Sales Head at ADATA. What are your initiatives and restructuring plans for ADATA in India?

As you know we have two brands, one is ADATA and the other is XPG. Adata has a wide range of memory products including USB cables, external hard-drives and external SSDs, memory cards, pen drives and more.  The focus of XPG is on providing gaming-related products and memory. We have a well set supply channel which is assisted and guided by our sales and marketing people operating in different parts of India. Our aim is to become No. 1 provider of memory solutions in India. We are expecting a great increase in demand for our SSDs in India in the coming years. We have a regional sales manager in India who takes care of India sales and marketing operations.

What are your plans to manufacture in India?

We have already started manufacturing in India and we will expand the operations further in the coming years. We want to use the India-based manufacturing system to export to Middle East and other countries. We are investing a lot in R&D and manufacturing in India.

What opportunity do you see in India?

India offers a great opportunity for our products firstly because India is a big country with huge population and next the proportion of youth is very high in India which is main market for memory solutions. Also, India is expected to become the 3rd largest economy in four years time, and this leads to higher disposable incomes of people which in turn results in the increasing demand for memory and other IT-related products.

What are your plans for the next 5 years in India? What are your plans for supply channel?

Right now we have a manufacturing plant in Delhi and we will have another factory in Chennai operating by 2026. We want to structure channel in such a way that it will reach even the T2, T3 and T4 cities across India, not just the T1 cities where we are already present. We want our channel to cover most of India to reach our solutions.  National Distributors of ADATA include KBC Computech Pvt Ltd, Multi and Technology and Gadgets (TAG); and of XPG include ACRO Engineering Company, KBC Computech Pvt Ltd and Multi. We want to strengthen our brand image and presence in India and become one of the top providers of memory and gaming products here in the coming years.
