Speaking on the occasion, Amar Babu, Managing Director, Lenovo India said “We are pleased to announce ‘India Engineered’ as the winner for the first phase of Do Network in India. I also congratulate the other top 9 teams for their stellar performance. I would like to thank all the participants and the youth of the country for the excellent response that Do Network has received”.
Started on December 8, 2011, the 3 month long competition saw over 1200 extraordinary projects going head-to-head. A team of 8 high-profile mentors such as Rajan Anandan (MD Google India), Rajiv Makhni (Managing Editor, Technology at NDTV, India), Mahesh Murthy (Managing Partner, Pinstorm & Seedfund), Kishore AK(CEO & Co-Founder, Althea system), Narvir C Sud (Retired Scientist G & Lead Auditor, ISO 9000, Aeronautical Development Establishment, Defence Research & Development Organisation), Maxwell Pereira (Ex-Commissioner, Delhi Traffic Police), Prof. Shiva Prasad (Dean- Academics, IIT Bombay) and Shantanu Prakash (Chairman & MD Educomp solutions, Founder and Managing Trustee of the Learning Leadership Foundation (LLF), evaluated, shortlisted and selected the top 10 teams. Post the selection, the mentors helped the teams to fine-tune their projects before they faced the ultimate test of online voting. The winner emerged after more than 1 lakh votes were cast by the Indian public across projects.
“The over-whelming response that Do Network received reinforces the fact that each of us nurtures an idea of a better India and Lenovo has endeavoured to create this platform to bring those ideas to life. Do Network is an initiative that provides an opportunity to enable the youth to be the agents of change through the use of technology”, Amar Babu added.
“It has been a long road for these very passionate Doers and it’s been fantastic to see such a worthy project evolve and emerge”, said Rajan Anandan, MD, Google India. “The Do Network has provided us with the rare opportunity to support, guide and nurture some really innovative and brilliant Indians and I am sure it will continue to inspire many more great projects in future.”
